CH32V003 Based Low-Cost Pixel LED Controller
customizable pixel LED controller based on the CH32V003 RISC-V microcontroller, specifically designed for decorative lighting
A custom hardware and firmware engineering project delivered by Elcoan Lanka for a client in Sri Lanka. The goal was to create a highly affordable, customizable pixel LED controller based on the CH32V003 RISC-V microcontroller, specifically designed for decorative lighting, Vesak lanterns, and event displays.
This project covered both the hardware design and the embedded software required to make the controller flexible and user-friendly.
Key Features
- CH32V003 RISC-V architecture utilized to keep the overall unit cost extremely low without sacrificing performance
- Customizable LED control allowing users to run multiple dynamic lighting patterns, adjust playback speed (delay), and configure the exact LED strip length
- Non-volatile flash memory integration ensuring all user settings, strip sizes, and selected patterns are automatically saved and restored after a power cycle
- Application-specific design tailored to drive addressable pixel LEDs for local cultural events like Vesak, as well as commercial event lighting
What We Delivered
- Custom PCB design Engineered an ultra-compact and cost-effective circuit board optimized around the CH32V003 MCU and necessary power delivery components
- Firmware development: Wrote custom embedded C code to handle precise LED data timing, pattern generation algorithms, and flash memory read/write operations
- Prototyping & testing: Assembled and rigorously tested the boards to ensure stable long-term operation under continuous lighting loads
- Complete product delivery: Provided fully functional, ready-to-use controllers tailored perfectly to the client's specific decorative lighting needs
This project is a strong example of Elcoan Lanka's capability to leverage ultra-low-cost modern microcontrollers to build highly specific, budget-friendly hardware solutions for local and commercial applications.
